The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce 2016 Annual Dinner featured an all-new way to showcase and celebrate its members. This year, we emphasized the importance to ThinkLocal and SupportLocal through the event’s highlighted ShopLocal! Silent Auction!

More than 260 guests attended and enjoyed the event, and had the opportunity to learning about and appreciate the wide array of local businesses that the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce represents! |
1) Geneva Art, History & Culture Packagedonated by the Geneva Historical Society and Geneva Antique Co-Op Geneva Historical Society– Rose Hill Mansion Tickets & Amber Jewelry Set The Geneva Historical Society was founded in 1883 and since then has been dedicated to telling and preserving the stories of Geneva. Geneva History Museum, Rose Hill Mansion, and Johnston House are the three featured galleries of the Geneva Historical society, that exhibit a variety of materials of the Historical Society as well as those on loan from other private collectors. In September, the Geneva Historical Society hosted our monthly Business After Hours Networking Mixer in the 1829 Prouty-Chew House, which was a great success. Geneva Antique Co-Op- Gift Certificate Located at 473 Exchange Street in Geneva, the Antique Co-Op is a 6,000 square foot, two-floor antique and collectible cooperative offering an extensive variety of vintage items. With 70+ dealers from all over the area there is a wide selection of quality merchandise at affordable prices. The Co-Op is owned by Doug Zeck and Mike Dorrington.2) Shop Ashley FurnitureAshley Furniture Home store: $100 Gift Certificate Ashley Furniture Home store/D&R Flooring has been a proud and active member of the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce since 1983. Since then they have operated as a nationally affiliated, local and family owned business. Located at 258 Exchange Street in Geneva, Ashley Furniture has been a part of the Geneva community for 40 years and continues to service Geneva and other regional areas.3) Muranda Cheese & Wine Gift Basketdonated by Bank of the Finger Lakes Bank of the Finger Lakes is a unit of USNY Bank, a full-service community bank based in Geneva, NY. The bank opened for business in 2007. Their donation package features Muranda Cheese and Wine, which is a creamery located in Waterloo, NY. The Muranda Cheese Company was started five years ago by Tom and Nancy Murray to showcase the high quality milk used to create exquisite cheeses. A fitting complement of the fine wines of the Finger Lakes, the Muranda Cheese Company sits among some of the best stops on the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail.4) C.S. Burrall & Son, Inc.: Fire Safety Basket & KitTom Burrall is the proud owner of C.S. Burrall & Son, Inc., which is the oldest family business and only insurance agency in downtown Geneva. The agency has been in business for 186 years, and has been passed down through 5 generations of Burralls, making it one of the few 5-generation businesses in New York State. In 1897 C.S. Burrall & Son insured every car that had insurance in Geneva. Tom prides himself in maintaining his family tradition of providing safety and peace of mind to the local community, which is the cause and purpose of this fire safety basket and kit.5) Experience Ciccino’s!Ciccino’s Pizzeria: Dinner for 2 Gift Certificate Ciccino’s (chi-chi-nose) Pizzeria, founded by the Franzone Family (whose origins are from Sicily) opened the doors for business on May 29th, 1996. The original location for Ciccino’s Pizzeria and Restaurant was built in the late 1800’s. Originally, the location housed the Waterloo Fire Department for many decades. In the Spring of 2004, Ciccino’s Pizzeria and Restaurant under went a major expansion, which added approximately 3,000 square feet to its facility in order to better accommodate our patrons. 7) Hand-Blown Glass Vasedonated by The Corning Museum of Glass Located in Corning, NY the Corning Museum of Glass offers programs for all ages and interests. Families will find many activities for children, including free evening Family Nights which offer the perfect way to introduce little ones to the Museum. Adult visitors can learn more about glass through free Behind the Glass lectures (many also live streamed on the web), or enjoy an evening of live music and hot glassmaking at 2300°. Owner Rafael Diaz has been in business in the Geneva area for a number of years, and has also been able to bring some cultural flare to our City in the form of the Festival Latino, which happens every June in Downtown Geneva. 10) Woodworks & WineFish Woodworks: Handmade Wine Rack Fish Woodworks is owned and operated by Thomas Fish. Tom has more than 20 years of experience building personalized, custom furniture. Items crafted by Fish Woodworks are featured in several Finger Lakes wineries and other local businesses. Each Fish Woodworks piece is a work of art, made with locally sourced or reclaimed wood. The character of the wood, the crafter, and the buyer is alive in each work Tom creates. Located on North Main Street in Canandaigua, the Granger Homestead Mansion’s architectural design is representative of the Federal style of architecture which was common in America during the years from 1780-1820, and was an expression of America’s new independence. Heron Hill’s grape grower and owner, John Ingle often says that Heron Hill has “boot prints in its vineyards, not tire tracks.” People maintain the vines at Heron Hill, not machines. 26) Wine Time- PrejeanPrejean Winery Wine Gift Kit The idea for Prejean Winery was something of a dream for Jim Prejean after he and his wife moved from San Francisco to Connecticut for Jim’s job. They often recalled the drives around California wine country and, being on the East Coast, discovered the Finger Lakes wine industry in the late 1970’s. In 1978 the couple purchased 53 acres and planted the first 13 acres in 1979. In 1985 they took up permanent residence and built the winery. Prejean Winery officially opened in 1986, and sadly Jim passed away three years later, but not before he was able to see his dream realized. Elizabeth remains very much a part of the winery, and their son Tom and his wife Amy play a very large role in the success of the winery today. His vision and generosity created a theater that has been a cornerstone of cultural life in the Finger Lakes for over 100 years. The organization, Smith Center for the Arts, owns and operates the historic Smith Opera House, and coordinates numerous other arts advocacy projects. It is led by a Board of Directors, and through its committee structure, leaders of other arts organizations in the Geneva area participate in knowledge-sharing and joint identification of strategic initiatives. The Smith Center for the Arts is both a presenting organization and a catalyst for enhancing the role of the arts in the Finger Lakes.
