We asked current customers of Progressive and Liberty Mutual car insurance to tell us what they liked and didn’t like about their insurance provider. After all, customers are the ones who know how well the company treats their clients. Current customers know how easy it is to have their claims paid, and if they think the price is worth what they are receiving.
When calling the company’s representatives, how do clients of Progressive and Liberty Mutual feel they are treated? Liberty Mutual’s clients rated the customer service they received as better than most. Progressive’s customers also claimed that the customer service with this company was better than most, so there is a tie.
There appears to be a difference between how the local agents and staff treat clients. Liberty Mutual’s customers gave the local agent and staff an above average rating. Progressive, on the other hand, received a below average rating for this category. Obviously, Liberty Mutual wins this contest.Clients also gave their opinions on whether or not they are receiving an extensive amount of coverage for a good price. Liberty Mutual also wins this one because its customers gave it an above average rating. Progressive’s customers were not impressed with the price they are paying for the coverage they are receiving because they placed their company’s offerings in the below average category.
If an auto insurance company does not have the coverage that people need, it doesn’t matter what they are being charged because it is not worth the price. For this category, Liberty Mutual’s clients do believe that they have a wide variety of coverage options, and they gave their company another above average rating for this category. Progressive did not fare as well because its clients believe that the coverage they are offered is about average.
The only area where Progressive came out ahead of Liberty Mutual is the website. Liberty Mutual’s clients are not impressed with the company’s website and only gave it a below average rating. Progressive finally won one competition between itself and Liberty Mutual because its clients gave the website the highest honor of being among the best.Overall, Liberty Mutual comes out ahead of Progressive in three out of four areas. Specifically, Liberty Mutual’s clients stated that their auto insurance company is above average and Progressive’s clients declared that their company is about average.
When one looks further into the products that these two companies have for purchase, it becomes clear that Liberty Mutual is offering more value to customers. For example, Liberty Mutual has what is called “better car replacement.” If the vehicle is totaled, Liberty Mutual will give the client a sum of money that will pay for a vehicle that is one model year ahead of the old vehicle and also has fewer miles.
Better car replacement may not appeal to everyone, but maybe discounts would. Progressive has several discounts to speak of, including a discount for remaining accident-free for three years. If after three years an accident does occur, Progressive will not increase the policyholder’s rates even if the policyholder caused the collision.
Both Liberty Mutual and Progressive have features that will appeal to some and not to others. However, if potential clients are going to consider what current customers have to say about the coverage offered by these two companies, they will be better off choosing to purchase their auto insurance coverage from Liberty Mutual.
