Q : Do you accept Walk-ins?

Walk-ins are always welcome. However, to ensure efficient use of your time and ours it’s always best to call ahead so we can plan and be properly prepared for your visit. Our Goal is timely completion of an estimate! If you are on a schedule it’s best to call ahead.

Q : What should I look for in a collision shop?

Quality collision repair without breaking the bank, reputable and honesty is very important when choosing a collision shop. You should choose a shop you feel comfortable with and is user-friendly with insurance companies. Look for a written warranty on repairs and shops that have been around for a long time. In addition, try to see some of their repairs and find someone who has used them in the past for recommendations!

Q : How long should rust repairs last? Are there warranties?

There is no set way to tell how long rust repair will last, all metal parts including aluminum are subject to oxidation or corrosion. However proper treatment of the metals used to replace the affected areas will prolong the life of the rust repair. Rust can come from anywhere on the car and spread to newer fixed parts. As New York state residents proper maintenance of your vehicles exterior will help in reducing your risk of rust returning. Some parts we use are warranted against rust however; rust repair is not always included in most body shops warranty.

Q : How do i know if my vehicle is a Total loss? What determines a total loss value?

Most insurance companies consider a total loss to be damages that total 75% of what the vehicle is worth. Value is determined by condition, mileage, and options among other things. Of course, this may vary with different insurance companies. Check your vehicles approximate value on the Edmonds; be informed.

Q : Should I look around for other estimates?

No, differences in estimates are directly related to how thorough and accurate the estimates are completed. There is no law that requires you to get more than one estimate. Most collision shops in the area will be subject to the same parts and labor rates. The prices will vary based on how accurate the estimate is to how long it will take for those auto body repairs. It comes down to why you choose a collision shop, not so much a comparison of estimates.

Go to a shop you feel comfortable with, they will provide you with a detailed estimate. If you do have other estimates, ask Don to compare items between estimates. Again, Make sure you are going to an Auto Body Repair shop you can trust.

Q :How are you able to match paint colors on repairs for all makes and models?  I have a custom paint job, can you fix this?

Stocum’s uses a state-of-the-art computerized mixing system.  All we need to do is input the manufacturers’ paint code off of your vehicle and it generates a formula for us to match repairs to your exact factory color!  For custom paint jobs we are able to match any color with or state of the art color matching system.

 Q : How long will repairs take?

Our Goal is timely completion, we understand that when your vehicle is down, your life is down. With that in mind understand that the time frame for each job is determined by the size of the job and the amount of body and paint labor hours needed to complete it. Don will be able to give you an approximate timeframe when you schedule your appointment!

Q : What kind of parts will be used on my vehicle?

This is decided based upon you and your insurance company if it is an insurance based repair or you if it is an out-of-pocket expense. Your insurance contract specifies how repairs will be handled. Don will work on your behalf to restore your car to your satisfaction, ensuring the all repairs that are completed are done in the highest quality using both new and/or used parts – provided they meet your qualifications and satisfaction level.

Q : Are your employees trained? If so, what kind of training do your employees have?

Our people are professionally trained and maintain their certifications. To meet your expectations we keep you involved through the process and perform quality work at reasonable prices.

Q : Do you have a shuttle service?

We will help take you to where you need to go. Also keep in mind that we work directly with Enterprise Rent-a-car and they will pick you up at our location.

Q : When will my vehicle be ready?

Initially, when we put together an estimate we will supply you with a timeline so you can establish what is necessary for your personal needs, whether it be a rental car or some other form of alternate transportation. We follow the guideline and strive to deliver your car in a timely manner. You can check your vehicles approximate value on the Edmonds

Q : The insurance company gave me an estimate and i don’t think it’s right, or they are telling me where to go; What should I do?

You do not have to accept the insurance companies damage appraisal, see the “Appraisal Clause” in your insurance policy to resolve differences. Additionally, you are not obligated to use any particular shop to obtain repairs, you choose the shop and authorize the repairs.

Q : How do I work out the cost of the repairs?

Generally, for insurance claims you are responsible for the deductible which varies from person to person. You are responsible for the cost of the repairs, a financial arrangement will be made before we can release the vehicle. If you are filing a claim with your insurance company, Don will contact them to work out the coverage.
