I’m 21 and looking to get a new car that’s both fast and cheapish to insure. I have 2 years NCB, with a clean license and I’ve never crashed. I have looked at some hot hatches and fast saloons. I was surprised to find that insurance for a Golf GTi was more than for a C32 AMG, a 180mph car with 150bhp more! I’m tempted by the AMG, but servicing might suck my wallet dry… Are there any other options? Looking for 0-60 around 5 – 6s, good mid range power, 5 seats, and economy at least in the 20s

File an insurance claim, minimal damage to car that I let friend borrow?

I let my friend use the car last night while I was in the passanger. The weather was slightly bad and we slipped into a snow bank. Upon entering his driveway it comes to find out that their is some light damage to the bumper. A dent that he claims he can pop out from the inside of the hood. I would like to know how much this usual cost is.. and if I should be filing a insurance claim and if I still can. I live in massachusetts and like I said this happened last night.

I am 23 and have no points on my licence. I live in maryland and i was pulled over in virginia for speeding and recived a ‘failure to obey a highway sign’ violation. The officer said he gave me that cause it was a lesser fine, i think it was B.S. cause he didnt have me on radar (i asked to see the radar becase he said i was going 75 in a 65, i felt i was going 70 max.. he said they arent supposed to lock in the speed int he radar but that is a different issue) I contacted a rep from the MVA and he said no points would transfer to my driving record, but the violation would go on my record carrying no points. My question is, do the insurance companies look at just the points on your licence, or do they look at the violation even if there are no points. Also, about 2 years ago I got a ticket for speeding and i went to court and they dropped the points and declinded the fine a little. Im assuming this is on my record as well, but carried no points, would this effect rates as well

I was stopped because of a broken rear light and as it happens my insurance had expired about 4 days before. I wasn’t aware that the insurance expired , i thought it was at the end of the month. Why are my car insurance quotes so high (first car UK)?

OK, I passed my test last week so I’ve started looking at what cars to buy, and which ones have the cheapest insurance. I’ve tested lots of different comparison sites to get insurance quotes and most of them are around £4,000! To me that’s strangely high for cars that are less than £1,000… The cars that I’ve had quotes for are Vauxhall Corsa’s and Ford Fiestas, both 1.2L. A friend of mine insured a Golf 1.6 for £900 which was his first car, so I really don’t get why my quotes are so different, especially as I’m looking at much cheaper cars. I’ve also tried using the sites that offer a telematics box which is meant to be considerably cheaper but it’s still around the £4,000 mark for some reason. Is there any way I can get it cheaper without going onto my parents insurance?

Okay basically here’s the story. I’m 19, I live with my parents in Wisconsin but I’m trying to move back to Pennsylvania with my aunt and uncle. However I’m not in school at the moment. Apparently if I moved to PA, I’d have to pay 278 dollars more a month through Geico because I’d be living in a different state. I already have a job set up there and all so they could obviously see my paycheck is not from Wisconsin so I can’t just lie or something lol. I recently had my car damaged in one of our Texas storms. It caused about $4000 in damage to the entire left side, hood, and both bumpers, and knocked out two windows. I just got my car back from the insurance suggested body shop and I can still see where many of the rock marks were painted over. There are divets in the paint in a lot of spots, which is better than the metal that was showing before, but not how I want it. My question is, shouldn’t they have completely sanded down the areas of the car that needed to be repainted instead of just painting over the paint nicks? The car is a 2006 Mustang that is practically brand new. Maybe I am wrong, but shouldn’t the insurance company be fixing the car to the PERFECT condition it was in before it was damaged?

I got a couple of questions about about auto insurance coverage. Namely, what’s the best amount of liability and medical coverage to select. 1) For the liability, I know it’s wise to get the best liability that one can afford to cover your assets. But how about if one also gets umbrella coverage. For example, if one gets an umbrella coverage at a $2 million limit and the liability limit for the auto insuarance is $300,000 or $500,000, does it make sense to select the $500,000 or is it better to select the $300,000 limit since the umbrella coverage would kick in? 2) for medical, is this redundant coverage and not needed because wouldn’t the liability portion also cover medical expenses? Or is it wise to get this, for example, if a passenger is not insured (no health insurance), so the medical part would help out in that case? Thanks.
