Amanda Cooper

EAST DONEGAL TWP., Lancaster County, Pa. — The former treasurer of the Donegal Intermediate School Parent-Teacher Organization is accused of stealing over $50,000 from the organization. Susquehanna Regional Police  say the thefts occurred between December 2012 to July 2014, when Amanda Cooper was treasurer of the PTO. The missing funds were discovered when the president of the PTO attempted to activate online access to the organization’s accounts and found she was not authorized, which was contrary to the organizations rules. With the assistance of Donegal School District officials the accounts were reviewed and discrepancies were found. That’s when police were contacted.

Police say Cooper, 37, of Mount Joy, was cooperative throughout the investigation and turned herself in along with her attorney at Magisterial District Judge Scott Albert’s office where the charges of embezzlement and theft were filed. She was released on $75,000 unsecured bail.

In total, police say she stole $52,945.78.
